Lily Tomlin may be known for her acting roles on screen, however, she started out her career as a stand-up comedian. Her breakout acting role came when she performed on the variety show Rowan and Martin"s Laugh-In in the 70s. In 1974, Tomlin appeared in her first film where she portrayed Linnea Reese in Nashville. Her film debut role won her several awards and nominations for the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
