Lin indeed noticed that the P waves on the seismometers over Datun were delayed compared with those detected on seismometers elsewhere in the park, and that the S waves didn"t arrive at all, but showed up on the other seismometers. His calculations revealed the existence of a magma chamber below the volcano group and a hydrothermal reservoir (composed of water and steam) above it.
